Communication is an essential part of the role of the Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) Administrator. The HIT Administrator is the conduit through which users express their IT needs and problems and the IT group explains the systems and processes put in place to meet those needs and solve user problems.

This requires that an HIT Administrator be knowledgeable of their organization’s leadership hierarchy, the common medical terminology used in the department they service, have a plan in place to provide clinical alerts in the event of system downtime, develop change-management procedures, and provide mechanisms for user feedback.
