Saint Francis Medical Center, located in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, announced that it has been awarded a three-year 
term of accreditation in digital mammography, one of the diagnostic imaging systems used for early detection of breast cancer, according to results of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR). Grand Island Imaging Center offers digital mammography services carried out by Saint Francis Medical Center and Grand Island Radiology.
The ACR, one of the most prestigious radiology organizations in the United States, awards accreditation to healthcare settings that achieve high practice standards, after conducting a peer-review evaluation of the practice and provided services. Evaluations are carried out by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who have expertise in diagnostic imaging field. These physicians conduct scurvies and then report their findings to the ACRs Committee on Accreditation, which eventually provides the practice with a comprehensive report.
The ACR is providing services to more than 32,000 diagnostic and interventional radiologists, and radiation oncologists. ACR also aims to improve the level of the delivered radiological services in healthcare facilities. Digital mammography is one of the most significantly helpful diagnostic imaging tools, used for early detection of breast cancer.
