Four new state-of-the-art ultrasound systems, provided by medical technology experts SiemensSIEMENS Healthcare, are delivered to Forth Valley patients and have been installed in Stirling Royal Infirmary. These systems give top quality pictures.

Two of the systems are implemented in the hospital's busy Maternity Ultrasound department to perform highly detailed scans of fetuses. The other two systems are in the main Radiology department and are being used for a range of examinations. The ultrasound probe is providing high resolution images to assist with diagnoses in the hospital's 'one stop' Neck Lump Clinic. "When it came to replacing our older ultrasound equipment, excellent image quality and ergonomics were important factors in the ultrasound decision making process," said Dawn Walker, Lead Sonographer at Stirling Royal Infirmary Hospital, part of NHS Forth Valley. "Our staff has found the systems very user-friendly and the mix of probes and applications have been well received." Declan Dunphy, Ultrasound Product Manager at Siemens Healthcare, said "This multiple installation of our ultrasound systems will significantly enhance the imaging facilities at Stirling Royal Infirmary and ultimately the standard of care delivered to patients. With sharper image quality, clinicians will be able to see a greater level of detail in the patient's body, whether that is growing babies in the womb or muscular concerns. This helps with making smoother and more accurate clinical decisions to help the local community get onto the right treatment or care pathway."
