Healthcare IT news Global Software Leader Responds to Growing Demand in Saudi Healthcare Market

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, 13 November, 2012 – InterSystems Corporation, a global leader in software for connected healthcare, today announced it has opened an office in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It is the company’s first office in the country and its second in the region. The move comes in response to the growing demand for connected healthcare in Saudi Arabia, at a time when the Kingdom’s Ministry of Health is encouraging major healthcare providers to embrace electronic health information systems for the benefit of Saudi nationals.

The Riyadh office will provide a base for an InterSystems delivery team to ensure higher levels of customer service and foster the development of local expertise and knowledge in healthcare informatics. Governments across the Middle East recognize the benefits of investing in the latest healthcare technology and solutions. Saudi Arabia is one of the fastest growing healthcare markets in the world, with a projected compounded annual growth rate of 12.3 percent through 2015 at a spending value of over SR 26 billion.

InterSystems’ technology and solutions for connected care have won market share and client trust among leading healthcare organisations around the globe. In the Middle East, InterSystems has already delivered implementations in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait.

Commenting on the Saudi office opening, Steve Garrington, Group Commercial Director of InterSystems, said: “Our direct presence in Saudi Arabia underscores our commitment to the local and regional healthcare market. Our philosophy is to help our customers achieve the fastest route to long-term success, enabling them to provide better care to their patients, which is perfectly aligned with the Saudi Ministry of Health eHealth initiative.”

The new office will help InterSystems deliver the benefits of the Saudi edition of the InterSystems TrakCare™ healthcare information system, which is available in Arabic with the Hijri calendar and is pre-configured to meet Saudi healthcare needs.

TrakCare is an Internet-based unified healthcare information system that rapidly delivers the benefits of an electronic patient record. It is used by many of the top hospitals worldwide and across the Middle East, including Security Forces Hospital in Dammam, Sultan Bin Abdel Aziz Humanitarian City in Riyadh, Sultan Qaboos University Hospital in Oman, and University Hospital Sharjah in the UAE, amongst others.

TrakCare provides many features that support electronic medical record best practices. One such feature is computerized physician order entry and online physician documentation, both supported by clinical decision support to offer evidence-based clinical guidance to physicians,” said Michel Amous, Country Manager, Middle East and India, at InterSystems.

“By successfully deploying the most advanced healthcare information technology, healthcare providers can significantly reduce costs, improve the quality of care, and increase patient safety,” added Amous.
