The Sheikh Khalifa Medical City's (SKMC) Oncology department organizes a Colorectal Cancer Awareness day on 24 - 25 March 2010.
Dr. Atul Mehta, Chief Medical Officer of SKMC stated, "The purpose of SKMC's Colorectal Cancer Awareness Day is to promote awareness about colorectal cancer and encourage people to get screened."
On the first day, all SKMC staff to wear blue in order to get people to talk about this important issue and save lives in the process.
Whereas on the second day, there will be a full scientific program about the best practices of prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer.
"The oncology services offer highly specialized treatments with chemotherapy, monoclonal antibodies, tyrosine kinase inhibitors and endocrine therapy, both for inpatients and outpatients, according to the latest international guidelines," Dr. Marie-Louise Fjallskog, Head of the Medical Oncology Division at SKMC said.
