healthcare IT newsWestborough, Mass-based eClinicalWorks, an ambulatory clinical systems provider, unveiled that Oklahoma’s Cynthia Taylor, M.D., affiliated with Norman Regional Health System, is the first in the country to be awarded a reimbursement check from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for fulfilling “meaningful use” of electronic medical records (EHR).

An eClinicalWorks customer since February 2008, Dr. Taylor received a ceremonial check for $21,250 in her office from the Oklahoma Health Care Authority.

Dr. Taylor’s office qualified for funds because it successfully achieved “meaningful use” of a certified electronic medical records system and because at least 30 percent of her clients are covered by Sooner Care, Oklahoma’s Medicaid program.

Norman Regional Health System is also live with eClinicalWorks Electronic Health eXchange (eEHX), which connects the health system and members of Norman Physician Hospital Organization, providing physicians with better access to patients’ health information and allowing them to exchange data more rapidly and effectively.
