South Tyneside NHS Foundation Trust has ordered four Ysio wi-DTM systems from Siemens Healthcare, two of which have already been installed into general Digital Radiography (DR) rooms. The hospital will be using the systems for routine X-ray procedures and is hoping the four new DR rooms will streamline procedures and increase patient throughput.

The Ysio wi-D is a general DR solution complete with wireless detectors. The detector can be used in bucky, on the table and stand, or removed completely to be placed underneath or next to the patient. The Ysio wi-D offers extended versatility in imaging and assists in reducing patient examination times for increased daily throughput. Over 500 pre-set anatomical auto-positioning programs also help to speed up processing times.

“The Ysio is an easy-to-use, flexible DR system that is ideal for performing fast, accurate examinations on patients,” said Bronia Fleet, Clinical Business Manager at South Tyneside District Hospital. “Our staff have really taken to the system and are very pleased with the image quality. As the patients are at the heart of our service, we are also thrilled to offer them quick and comfortable imaging.”

“We’re very pleased that South Tyneside District Hospital has boosted its X-ray capabilities with this large order. Lateral exposures of the hip and other areas which are usually awkward to X-ray are made possible with the Ysio wi-D, making it a valuable, flexible product for general imaging,” said Joanne McAuliffe, Product Manager for X-ray and Fluoroscopy Systems at Siemens Healthcare. “We are thrilled that the hospital team has already noticed positive benefits to the care provided to patients with limited mobility and look forward to hearing how the additional systems awaiting installation will further improve workflow.”

South Tyneside District Hospital has also installed Siemens Healthcare’s first mobile digital X-ray system with wireless detector in the UK – the Mobilett Mira. The Mobilett Mira is compact and lightweight in design and combines the advantages of mobile digital X-ray imaging with the flexibility of a wireless detector. The system can speed up examination workflow as it is easy to drive and fit in confined spaces with an ergonomic design that aids precise positioning.
