Birmingham Women’s NHS Foundation Trust has installed a fourth ACUSON S2000TM ultrasound system from Siemens Healthcare, coinciding with the opening of its new Fetal Medicine Department. The system is being used to help staff tackle complex fetal conditions as part of the new department’s drive to improve patient experience through shortened waiting times, thereby reducing stress. Birmingham Women’s Hospital has established a long-standing relationship with Siemens Ultrasound and was the first unit to purchase the ACUSON S2000 Ultrasound system on its release four years ago. The systems have been acquired by Birmingham Women’s Hospital as replacements for legacy Siemens SONOLINE AntaresTM and ACUSON Sequoia systems.

When faced with complex exams, image quality is everything. The ACUSON S2000 delivers extraordinary image quality in both B-mode and Colour Doppler for unprecedented diagnostic confidence. Siemens’ unique imaging technologies provide exquisite detail resolution to enable you to distinguish the most subtle tissue detail and structures. Outstanding colour sensitivity allows vizualization of slight velocity changes of blood flow to better detect abnormalities as well as visualization of fine vessels.

“As a tertiary center receiving referrals from across the West Midlands and further afield, it is very important we have excellent quality systems in place, and we are happy to continue our strong relationship with Siemens Healthcare with this latest installation,” said Veronica Donovan, Matron of the Fetal Medicine Department at Birmingham Women’s Hospital. “The opening of what we believe is a world-class facility to diagnose a broad range of complex fetal conditions such as monochorionic complications including twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome, is reinforced by the installation of the fourth ACUSON S2000 system from Siemens Healthcare.”

Siemens Healthcare and Birmingham Women’s Hospital have enjoyed a long-standing relationship for a number of years, and we are proud the opening of the new Fetal Medicine Department at the hospital has coincided with the installation of a fourth ACUSON S2000,” said Bernadette Leonard, Regional Sales Manager and Acting UK Business Manager for Ultrasound Products at Siemens Healthcare. “This established system continues to deliver exquisite image quality and a broad range of diagnostic insights to staff.”

“We are pleased Birmingham Women’s Hospital’s relationship with Siemens Healthcare continues with the installation of this fourth ACUSON S2000 in its new Fetal Medicine Department,” said David Wilkins, Divisional Director of Clinical Products at Siemens Healthcare. “The Department is of importance not just to the West Midlands, but also on a national level as a center of excellence in the area of fetal medicine, and we are proud to play a part in that.”
