Knowledge shared on best practice and technological advances
Siemens Healthcare, in conjunction with Maquet, recently held a successful hybrid operating room (OR) seminar for clinical imaging professionals to educate and inform attendees about the latest technology advances and applications along with growth into new clinical specialities being addressed within this expanding field.
Delegates from across the United Kingdom and Ireland attended to discover the latest developments in clinical applications and to bolster their understanding of hybrid imaging, its application in surgery and all other elements of the surgical environment that need careful consider when planning a hybrid room. A speaker session on the use of the Artis zeego® angiography system in clinical practice was given by Dr Zenia Martin, Vascular Surgeon at St. James’s Hospital, Dublin. A question and answer panel discussion was also held to ask Siemens and speakers directly about hybrid OR innovation and management.
The Artis zeego from Siemens Healthcare features a unique multi-axis C-arm that uses robotic technology to extend imaging capabilities through virtually unrestricted positioning. The Artis zeego’s unique flexibility and numerous park positions make it extremely versatile and it is specifically designed for operating room environments, especially where laminar flow is being considered. The variable isocentre enables the working height of the system to be adjusted therefore helping to reduce fatigue for users of different heights when performing long, complex surgical procedures. The Maquet Magnus table was displayed with users being able to have ‘hands on’ experience and understand the importance of full system integration with the Artis zeego during procedures. This integration is essential to ensure system and patient safety along with improved workflow within a hybrid environment especially where interchangeable table top options are often required for a range of procedures.
“The seminar included a range of speakers and topics of interest to those in the early stages of planning a hybrid operating room project.
