Kingston Hospital, part of Kingston Hospital NHS Trust, has recently installed an Artis zeeTM Multi-purpose (MP) interventional imaging system from Siemens Healthcare. The system is located in the radiology department and replaces an existing Siemens system which the hospital had been using for 15 years. The system is being used for barium examinations, paediatrics, musculoskeletal and general fluoroscopy procedures.

The Artis zee Multi-purpose system has been designed with flexibility, fast image acquisition and advanced post-processing in mind. Its range of versatile clinical applications also includes full DSA (Digital Subtraction Angiography) functionality making it suitable to perform a wide range of angiography and fluoroscopy examinations, helping to improve departmental workflow. The department is making full use of the advanced dose-saving applications that are delivered as standard with the Artis zee systems, including CARE (Combined Applications to Reduce Exposure) and CLEAR (advanced image post-processing) in order to maintain excellent image quality at the lowest achievable dose.

The added benefit of the Artis zee MP’s integrated cross-hair laser light, is helping to enhance needle guidance in the interventional suite and proving particularly useful during hysterosalpingography (HSG) and paediatric procedures.

“This is the second Artis zee MP we have in the hospital, which is testament to the system’s capabilities. The main benefits have been the brilliant dose reduction, excellent picture quality and fantastic post processing capabilities where the platforms are not only quick but are also intuitive,” said Amanda Kenevin, Superintendent Radiographer at Kingston Hospital. “Both radiologists and radiographers have commented on the system’s ease of use and flexibility, which simultaneously allows us to see patients more quickly and run with a wider range of services.”

“We are pleased to see that Kingston Hospital is making full use of the Artis zee MP interventional imaging system. Not only are they using it for a wide range of procedures, but radiologists and radiographers are using the wide range of applications to their full extent,” said Malcolm Pickering, Regional Sales Manager at Siemens Healthcare. “The system is suitable for performing angiography and fluoroscopy examinations at a low dose, helping to improve workflow through its ease of use and precise image-guided technology.”
