Vendor Neutral Imaging Leader Gears Up for Significant Growth
(May 16, 2012) TeraMedica, Inc., the leader in vendor neutral enterprise image management, has named Del T. Coufal Vice President of Marketing. In his new position, Coufal will spearhead global market expansion efforts as the company gears up for significant growth.
“Vendor neutral archiving in particular, and vendor neutral image management in general are taking center stage, buoyed by the recent drive for new healthcare efficiencies, economies and meaningful use,” comments Coufal. “As a pioneer in vendor neutral data archiving--now popularized as the VNA--as well as larger scale vendor neutral image architecture, TeraMedica is in a unique position to help lead this change to improve the future delivery of healthcare. We also are in a unique position to help map out a blueprint for what is needed to achieve data interoperability and clarify the role a VNA will play in these efforts. I am extremely excited about the opportunities of joining TeraMedica during this watershed time.”
Coufal brings to the company a distinguished 20-year healthcare career, holding executive positions with both technology and patient-care providers. His background includes corporate strategy, marketing, and business development within the medical product industry, complemented by clinical and business management experience in cardiac care delivery and related patient care sectors.
Before joining TeraMedica, Coufal served as Vice President of Marketing at TomoTherapy, Inc. There, he played a key role in achieving significant corporate growth that led the University of Wisconsin start-up to an eventual IPO. Prior to this, he headed up marketing teams at VIASYS Healthcare and GE Medical Clinical Information Systems. Coufal also served as CEO for Appleton Cardiology Associates, Ltd., where he managed more than 100 employees in both business management and patient care.
“During this crucial time in TeraMedica’s growth, we sought a marketing professional with comprehensive knowledge of the opportunities and challenges of today’s healthcare environment. With his outstanding and diverse background, we are confident Del will be a major contributor to our success. The market is now primed for IT solutions like TeraMedica’s that enable data to transcend vendor limitations and achieve true interoperability. Del’s understanding of the drivers of technology adoption will help us take full advantage of this,” said Jim Prekop, CEO of TeraMedica. “Del’s successful track record in rapidly boosting brand identity and substantiating healthcare technology value to the marketplace will help ensure that we stay on a steep growth trajectory.”
