Normal 201Thallium Scintigraphy (Planar & SPECT)
Agent: 201Thallium
Adult Doses: 3-4 mCi IV (single-dose)
2 / 1 mCI IV (reinjection)
Excretion: Renal
Critical Organ: Kidneys
Notes:

  • The count statistics are relatively poor because the long T1/2 of 201TI (73 hrs) limits the amoount that can be given to the patient
  • For this reason, 201TI images look “grainier” than those of 99mTc-Cardiolyte
  • 201TI can undergo “redistribution” on delayed imaging
