56 year old with chest pain

Aortic Aneurysm

• Saccular – involves a portion of the wall
• Fusiform – entire circumference of lumen
• Greater than 6cm or associated with chest pain greater risk of rupture, candidate for surgery
• Atherosclerotic disease accounts for 80%
• Proximal Descending aorta most common site of involvement
• 1/3 of thoracic aneurysms also with AAA
