Job Description :
To provide an efficient, effective, responsive safe imaging service for Patients and Staff. General first line supervisory and radiographic duties. Required to carry out a variety of radiographic examinations using complex x-ray equipment within the hospital managing patient priority as appropriate and maintaining a high standard of technique and patient care. You will be a relatively experienced radiographer (Minimum 2 years), able to assess and organize own workload of patients ensuring the provision of the highest standards of patient care. The duties and responsibilities of the post holder will require service delivery in a wide range of clinical and patient presentations. To provide timely professional support to radiographic, radiological, nursing and all other staff groups. To assist junior members of staff to expand their knowledge and skills and encourage them to show imitative. Help the junior radiographers to understand how their practice should change to improve quality and support them in doing so. To assess the quality of images and provide support and advice to junior staff. To ensure all information relating to rota changes are communicated to the Senior /Supts Radiographers. To participate in the equipment procurement programme if required. To evaluate technology and its clinical application when required. Be aware of the need for financial control and make efficient use of resources.Regularly undertake the whole range of radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations as per any set protocols. To be familiar with the range of technical applications available on Imaging equipment Must comply with the Ionizing Radiation regulations I.R(M.E)R and local rules regarding radiation safety under which. To help provide training for new staff in the use of clinical equipment ensuring that they are adequately trained before it is used unsupervised. To be competent with the operation of all appropriate imaging equipment within the department including complex specialized radiological units and accessory equipment such as suction, oxygen, hoists, manual handling devices. Participate in department Q.A programme with the emphasis on A.L.A.R.A compatible with image quality ensuring written records are kept. As a senior you will represent the imaging dept during the out of hours service provision leading, supporting and co-ordinating the junior staff Participate in I.P.R and undertake a competency assessment in each work area as required
Job Qualification:
D.C.R/B.S.c Rad. H.P.C Registered. Minimum 2 years post graduate experience Experience of basic radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures. Provide an up-to-date C.P.D portfolio. Have Good technical skills - Have a high technical standard and speed consistent with accuracy. Problem solving. Be actively involved in dept improvements must have supporting evidence in projects/surveys/audits . Must be competent in routine and non routine radiographic techniques . Good interpersonal and communication skills. Be able to audit and evaluate own work and others performance . Be able to provide support and professional dev for staff . Ability to work as part of a team. Clear writing and oral skills. Ability to work with others and supervise as appropriate. Ability to manage workload in terms of time, resources and people to meet the needs of the dept. Ability to work independently without supervision Must have a Comprehensive knowledge of current issues - the development of the profession and contemporary issues. Radiographic technique/image quality Have an in depth knowledge of the justification process of the I.R.(M.E)R regulations and the impact within the imaging dept and the protocols and guidelines.
