Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise Europe (IHE-Europe) mentioned that it has been joined by two more countries and two more companies in Europe. IHE focuses on promoting interoperability and integration by using standards and runs the every-year, hands-on European ‘Connectathon’, which took place this year in Bordeaux, France.

Both IHE Suisse and IHE Turkey have joined as country members. Thus the number of national IHE Initiatives was increased from seven to nine. Moreover, Forcare, a Dutch firm, and VISUS, from Germany, become the first SME firms to join IHE-Europe. IHE-Europe mentioned that the new SME members are a result of the newly-reviewed membership model for vendors. Forcare is a Dutch-based SME that hired about 10 people. The company designs profiles and manages projects in the Netherlands and Belgium. Forcare has been handling the coordination between the industry team for the European epSOS project on behalf of IHE-Europe. While VISUS is a German company, with 70 employees, that provides healthcare software solutions.
