The Cancer Council Grants $350,000 for cancer research in Tasmania

The Cancer Council in Australia announced that is has granted a fund of nearly $350,000 to support cancer cancer_councilresearch in Tasmania. The funding of this year is going to be directed to the investigating about the role of vitamin D in preventing melanoma and researching screening procedures for prostate cancer.

Darren Carr, The Cancer Council's CEO, said the granted fund of last year was directed to the research on providing psychological support for Tasmanian men suffering from prostate cancer. He said "Cancer is something that affects all aspects of a person's life, both their physical health and their mental health as well," he added "The psychosocial aspects of cancer are being more and more understood hence the reason the Cancer Council is funding interventions in the psychological field as well as the medical and sciences field."
