The Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, and NSW Premier are announcing today the funds granted for a new public radiotherapy unit, Regional Cancer Centre at Gosford Hospital, on the central coast. Rudd is to be joined by Robertson MP, Belinda Neal to highlight further details of the funds, about $39 million in federal and state funding, for building the cancer center.
Ms. Neal has been campaigning for building a central coast public radiotherapy unit for several years. She mentioned that cancer patients are going to be spared the need to travel to other cities, such as Sydney or Newcastle, to receive treatment. Ms. Nail stated "That's the most exciting thing about finally getting radiotherapy on the central coast, those patients that were really spending 12 hours a days, three of them in transport, will no longer have to do that," she added "They can just go down to Gosford Hospital, get their treatment and be home again."
