Description




The DICOM 2010 International Conference and Seminar will discuss the current, evolving, and future features of the DICOM Standard and DICOM's role in the healthcare environment.

  • Invited lectures will discuss current features of the DICOM standard and how they interplay with each other and the rest of the medical world.
  • The conference will include oral and poster presentations on new and coming DICOM features and their application.
After the conference, the DICOM Standards Committee and one of its working groups will hold business meetings, which the public may attend.


The conference program will include presentations solicited from DICOM developers and users. The topics of these presentations might include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Experiences in developing, deploying, or using DICOM applications.
  • How to leverage recently added features of the DICOM Standard.
  • Tutorials on soon-to-be-completed features of the DICOM Standard and how to prepare for them.


In particular, presentations are sought in areas such as the following:

Advanced Imaging:

  • Visible Light Objects and their Use (Video, Ophthalmology, Pathology, Dermatology, Endoscopy, etc.)
  • Compression
  • Capture (web-video recording)
  • Radiation Therapy and Planning
  • New Applications in Ultrasound, Cardiology, or Dentistry
  • Enhanced CT/MR
  • Multi-Dimensional Imaging
  • Spatial Registration
  • Hanging Protocols
  • Color Softcopy Presentation State

Surgical Applications Infrastructure:

  • New Structured Reports (include CT Dose) and SR applications
  • New Media and Media Creation Management
  • Configuration Management – Benefits and Experiences
  • Web Access to DICOM Objects (WADO) – Use Scenarios and Case Studies
  • Relevant Patient Information Query
  • Topics in Security (Audit Trail, User Identity Exchange, Digital Signatures)
  • PDF Document Capture and Cross Enterprise Document Sharing
  • SOP Class Relationship Negotiation



Submission of Presentations
Submit an abstract in English of 200 to 750 words by e-mail to Dr. Howard E. Clark (hclark@medicalimaging.org). The abstract form is available at the conference web site (http://medical.nema.org/dicom/DCS-2010). Please indicate if you prefer a poster or a 20-minute oral presentation. The Program Committee will select abstracts for oral or poster presentation. Authors will be notified by e-mail.

Poster presenters will be responsible for the set up and removal of their own posters. The conference organizers have made no special provisions for providing computing or other equipment for the poster sessions. If your particular poster requires such equipment, you will need to make your own special arrangements.

Full manuscripts will not be required for this conference. The DICOM Standards Committee encourages authors to submit their papers to peer-reviewed journals or magazines of the author’s choosing.

Note that since nearly all conference operating expenses are associated with food or meeting room charges, all participants, including speakers and members of the planning committee, will be expected to pay the full conference registration fee.
